I wouldn't recommend trying to make a living by participating in these companies, but for a little bit of your time you can earn extra money and giftcards. A couple of tips: Use a "junk e-mail address" specifically for this purpose because you will get a ton of e-mails from the offers you complete. Do not give out credit card information...you will forget to cancel the "trial" offer and you will be charged for the service- my suggestion is to stick to the free offers. Please have realistic expectations...remember, you are being paid to read e-mails and take surveys. And last, clear out your cookies and temp internet files often- if you don't your computer will start to slow down.

This is a great way to earn a little money fast
I've been doing work for Amazon's Mechanical Turk for a little while now and it's a great way to earn some extra money. It is all straight-forward. You complete jobs that people hire other people to do (as opposed to having a computer do the work). The jobs range from looking up information on the internet to writing essays. You pick the jobs you want and earn from .01 to $6.00 per "HIT". Some jobs take less than a minute others take some time. I was amazed when I discovered that this existed...I guess computers can't do EVERYTHING

These are companies that pay higher rates but you work harder for the money. There is also a competitive tone to these opportunities. To get paid for submitting tips to Day Tipper, your tips must be original and unlike previous submissions. If your tip is accepted they pay $3.00. Helium's rates vary but you are competing with fellow writers for "popularity" in order to get paid. Both are more difficult than they sound.
