Dirty Diaper Syndrome

How to be a supermom without losing your identity

Welcome to all new visitors...

and a hearty apology to old friends...

I have been dealing with a variety of issues since the beginning of the year and because of illness, was unable to keep up with some of my self-imposed responsibilities.  My illness, although undiagnosed after many medical tests, has been debilitating (my suspicion is an auto-immune disease such as lupus or ms) and leaves me too fatigued to keep up with my old life.  I am explaining my personal situation so that many of you who count on this site for legitimate information are not discouraged by my absence.  I have updated the latest jobs and will continue to try to keep up (at least minimally).  Much of the other information is still valid and useful, although I have been procrastinating going to every site and removing invalid or "bad" links.  Thank you all for sticking with me...I'll continue to try to provide valuable and current information.

Thank you all so much for your feedback.  I do take your e-mails and comments to heart.  Congratulations to all of you who have found employment (please share in our forum where and how ). I have been informed that there are dead links on my site.   I have gone through the links and haven't had trouble with them.  If there are specific sites you would like to report please send their names to me.   And thank you for sharing this site with friends and acquaintances!

Also, check the "Latest WAH Jobs" page and "Freebies and Cool Stuff" for new information.  If you are a first time visitor, please sign our guestbook.  Your feedback is valued.  Also, please visit our forum and share information or ask questions.  I have temporarily suspended advertising for home-based business opportunities while I focus primarily on WAH jobs.  Good luck in your search and thank you for visiting!

Here's a helpful tip for moms on a budget:

I just joined MyPoints not too long ago and I started making all my regular on-line purchases through their site.  I recently earned enough points for my second $50 gift card to Old Navy!  A super easy way to earn giftcards!  And with four growing children, I need all the help I can get  .

PLEASE HELP!  Visit this site: http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2

Click on the button to provide free mammograms to women...it only takes a second and it could save a life.

WELCOME!

What is Dirty Diaper Syndrome?

I know all of you parents have experienced this...you have just gotten the entire family ready and you're running a few minutes behind.  You grab your keys, cell phone, diaper bag, baby, and anything else you may need for this 20 minute excursion.  You shut and lock the front door, get the kids in the car, strap the baby into the car seat and check everyone's seatbelts, when..."Uh oh, what's that smell?!"  Time to unstrap the baby and change his poopy diaper while the other kids sit in the car and the minutes tick away, making you extremely late...

Now relate that scene to your career.  You graduate from college, begin your career, get married...everything is moving along nicely when, along comes baby.  Of course this is a beautiful time and you are overjoyed about impending motherhood...but you were just getting somewhere, just walking out the door so to speak.  Once you get your life on track after the first baby, along comes the second, and the third...you never seem able to get out the door with a clean diaper.

Even though things are harder with children, it is possible to still be successful while being the mother of the year.  This site is devoted to bettering our lives when our families are our priority.  My focus is on motherhood(dads are welcome too but MY experience is as a mother ) and finding worthwhile work at home opportunities.   I hope this will be helpful to some and I welcome any constructive feedback, suggestions, and interaction in general.  Thank you for stopping by...

Some advice about working from home

It takes a certain kind of person to work at home and be successful.  You must be resourceful, flexible, extremely motivated, independent, and you must have a "can-do" attitude about life in general.  Working at home is not easy.  Even if you are not working to build your own business, you have to put in the time to create a schedule that you and your family can live with and you must be organized.  Those are components of work-at-home success...be organized and stick to a schedule.  To be able to complete your work, boundaries must be set from the beginning.  It helps if you have a quiet work space apart from the family.  Children need to know not to bother mommy when she is working(unless it's an emergency of course!) and others must respect your job(no favors for friends and neighbors because "you're home all day anyway").  A supportive husband/S.O. also does wonders for your success!  Continually measure your progress and evaluate.  Things will need to change...you will learn by trial and error what works for you.  If you believe in yourself and your priorities and command respect for your choices, you will succeed in your WAH endeavors.  One day you will be able to look back at all that you have done and all that you have achieved and know that it was all worth it...then you can take a vacation!
